Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., is a professional organization of registered nurses and undergraduate nursing students. Aliene C. Ewell organized the Sorority on October 16, 1932, with the assistance of 11 other courageous registered nurses.
Inspired by the vision of our local founder Mrs. Beatrice McCloud, BSN, RN, the Beta Chi Chi Chapter was chartered on January 8, 2005 in Rochester New York. The Chartering and Installation Ceremony took place at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 351 Joseph Avenue, Rochester, NY 14605, with the support of its pastor, The Reverend Dr. Harmon Stockdale. The Chapter began with eighteen founding members, thereby expanding the vision of Chi Eta Phi to upstate New York with Beta Chi Chi then, becoming the only upstate chapter. Located in the Northeast Region, we are one of five regions within Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. On August 31, 2007, Beta Chi Chi was granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and officially incorporated as a New York State charity.
